Nikki Haley's Fail on the Civil War Echos University Presidents Fail on Genocide
By Thomas Anderson
On December 27, 2023 in Berlin, New Hampshire, Nikki Haley took part in a town hall where she was asked what the cause of the Civil War was. Her answer was vague, “Well don’t come with an easy question or anything," Haley responded. "I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how the government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do.” This reply drew widespread criticism, with political opponents seizing the opportunity to fundraise.
This incident echoes a similar situation involving female presidents of prestigious universities. Recently, Claudine Gay of Harvard, Sally Kornbluth of MIT, and Elizabeth Magill of the University of Pennsylvania appeared before the House of Representatives. They struggled to denounce calls for genocide on their campuses amid pro-Palestinian demonstrations. These esteemed leaders of leading American educational institutions were inexplicably unable to articulate a defense of Jewish students' rights to study free from fear of retribution or physical harm.
What is happening in our society that is causing women in leadership positions to publicly get hamstrung on what should be simple answers to simple questions? Nikki Haley believes she was caught in a trap set up by Democrat operatives, “We see these guys when they come in. We know what they’re doing.” The New York Times ran a piece saying the University Presidents of Harvard, M.I.T., and the University of Pennsylvania, “Walked Into a Trap”.
In today’s world of dark money in politics, political traps in the form of pro-Palestinian protests are funded by foreign interests, as well as a potent and highly funded megastructure of Chinese influence over American Universities. The foreign traps set up to snare our University Presidents have been buttressed by dark money-funded domestic attacks as well. These dark money funded domestic attacks on higher education have also been used to attack local public schools and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives in corporate America. Governor Ron DeSantis got ensnared in one of the dark money funded issues Nikki Haley stumbled over when a Board he appointed characterized slavery in America as a type of jobs program.
