Civil Rights Leader Victim of Vigilante Justice Gone Wrong
By Thomas Anderson
A distressing incident occurred at an AMC movie theater in Greenville, NC, highlighting the societal challenges America faces today. Rev. Dr. William Barber II, a disabled civil rights leader, was removed by police from the theater when he attempted to use a special chair to enjoy a movie with his nonagenarian mother the day after Christmas. In response to the reports of the mistreatment, the CEO of AMC Theaters extended an apology to Rev. Dr. Barber and invited him for a discussion on improving the company's accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
